With over 25 live captioners located throughout the U.S., Aberdeen can provide on-demand real-time captioning to meet your needs. Our captioners receive an audio feed via phone line from your program and write the text using a stenography machine connected to a computer, which sends the text stream to the station encoder via modem and phone line. The encoder receives the text stream and inserts the data into the video as closed captions – line 21 of standard definition video. This entire process often takes less than a second so the captions appear very close to the actual spoke word. Live captioning fully meets the FCC requirements.
