DVD

DVDs can contain captions and subtitles that can be turned on and off through the DVD menu. Up to 32 different language subtitles can be added to a single DVD, giving viewers their choice of language in which to view the program.

To ensure the best translations, Aberdeen employs native speakers who regularly return to their country of origin to maintain fluency in the respective languages.

Aberdeen’s subtitling files are compatible with all major authorizing systems.

It takes far longer to read than to listen, therefore each translation is carefully edited, providing a comfortable reading speed for the viewer while maintaining the meaning and impact of the spoken word. Proper names, technical and industry jargon terms are researched to ensure proper spelling and connotation.

THE PROCESS:

Client

• creates a small digital video file and posts it to our FTP site

Aberdeen

• creates verbatim transcript and translation
• creates caption or subtitle file (edit, sync and place text)
• performs subtitle quality check
• creates a subtitle or caption file for your DVD authoring system
• e-mails the file to client

Client or Authorizing Company

• adds the subtitle or caption file to their project and finalizes authoring with captions or subtitles as a menu option
