Video Engineer/Transcoding Specialist (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA)


Responsibilities:
-Set-up and develop procedures for a Rhozet Work Flow/Carbon Coder and Telestream Flip Factory/Vantage transcoding farm
-Prepare for, execute, and confirm completion of many compression tasks per day,
-Track encoding among different software and hardware-based compression platforms.
-Encoding of video content into TV Broadcast and web specifications
-Take the lead on resolving issues in video/audio quality that affect encodability
-Encode to multiple codecs/bitrates
-Facilitate content providers in their encoding and delivery process.
-Assist in software and hardware support for Operations team
-Recommend content process improvements
-Adhering to strict content security guidelines for all assets.

Requirements:
-Bachelor's degree or equivalent education
-2-4 years of video compression experience
-Real-world experience working cooperatively and effectively in a team environment.
-Understanding of the QuickTime, DirectShow, and Video for Windows media architectures. Specifically: moving content between them as well as between operating systems (Windows XP and Mac OS X).
-Understanding of various:
-video codecs and containers (WMV9/VC-1, H.264, DV25, MPEG 2 PS & TS, .GXF, .LXF, .MXF, .MOV)
-Familiarity with batch encoding and watch folders.
-Understanding of progressive and interlaced source formats and conversion techniques such as de-interlacing and inverse telecine.

Also desirable:
-Experience in closed captioning
-Familiarity with what's possible and what's practical in terms of audio and video quality among different customer-facing content delivery schemes: Digital broadcast (ATSC), digital cable (including CableLabs VOD), satellite (DBS), DVD, HD DVD / Blu-ray, broadband (Movielink, CinemaNow, Vongo, AOL In2TV), etc.
-Understanding of video capture, encoding, and archiving workflows
-Knowledge of ASF buffer size and WMV keyframe interval to successful WMV encoding
-Knowledge of MXF for metadata + asset archiving and interchange
-Ability to use a waveform monitor/vectorscope
-Basic familiarity of software analytics for compression to judge content quality. Extra bonus for familiarity with Inlet Semaphore or HP/Tektronix gear.
-Ability to foresee encoding automation as a wave of opportunity that you can ride.
-Focus on designing or evolving workflows to enable scalability and automation while maintaining quality.
-Attention to detail in the midst of multiple time pressures and incoming source quality variability.
-Can describe the differences in video and audio quality among your cable, satellite, and internet VOD providers.
-Have excellent vision (with corrective lenses if necessary). This includes being able to accurately differentiate between the full visible color gamut and see 20/20 without any eye conditions that mar your ability to resolve detail across your entire field of vision.
-Have little or no hearing loss (and be able to resolve sound characteristics such as surround/stereo/mono source material and in-phase/out-of-phase sound).
-Work effectively in a seated position for long periods of time with lots of near-field monitor viewing.
-Consent to a background criminal check and credit check.
-Have the ability to be present for occasional weekend or off-shift work.

SALES ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE

You will be selling to businesses our live- and post-production closed captioning and multi-language subtitling services during business hours (7:30am-4:30pm for at least the first year).

Position Summary
- Seeking a Sales Account Executive (inside sales, B2B) to join our growing sales team. Heavy phone and computer use.
- Focus is on Christian television program producers, government agencies and educational institutions, corporations, & post-production houses.
- No restrictions on sales territory—national and international
- Database with thousands of leads provided.
- Emphasis will be placed upon the ability to consistently make your target amount of phone calls daily, develop relationships with potential and current clients, and close sales.

Job Responsibilities
- Study, learn and understand the technical aspects and solutions of closed captioning & subtitling
- Make around 60-100 sales calls a day – 90 min+ of actual phone time per day.
- Solicit and provide captioning & subtitling solutions to prospective clients
- Build a strong network of new business contacts and develop long-term, repeat business relationships.
- Understand Aberdeen’s values and develop solutions that best meet customers’ needs and budgets
- Composition of proposals specific to each client and their respective projects.
- Close sales & follow-up in a professional manner

Qualifications/Skill set (DO NOT APPLY if you do not possess the following requirements)
- Must be technically savvy and be able to completely understand a technically-based product and workflow. You will be responsible for providing a technical solution based on the clients video editing/file based workflow.
- You need to be a “thinker” and be able to provide the best TECHNICAL solution to prospective clients
- You must have at least a BA or BS degree from an accredited university (NOT an online university).
- A minimum of 2 years sales experience
- Proven success and performance above peers
- Ability to generate leads and close sales
- Strong phone skills
- Completely computer literate
- Excellent relationship-development skills
- A self-starter with a winning attitude and work ethic to succeed
- Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.

Compensation:
- Starting salary: $3,000 base /per month + bonuses & commission
- Employee benefits—health insurance, 1-week paid vacation, 5 paid sick days, 7-8+ paid holidays, 401K plan
- You will build a client base that typically has recurring projects or shows. There is a long lead time so you need to be a person with a 3-5 year perspective to building a sales career. – dependent upon sales ability and dedication to growing client base. Here are estimated earnings per year:
- Projected estimated earnings for 1st year: $36K – $48K
- Projected estimated earnings for 2nd year: $48K – $60K
- Projected estimated earnings for 3rd year: $60K – $75K
- Projected estimated earnings for 4th year: $75K – $100K
- Projected estimated earnings for 5th year: $100K +
