REAL-TIME CAPTIONER
Aberdeen Captioning is looking for top-of-the-line real-time captioners who are both trained and experienced in the closed-captioning industry.
Job Description:
- Captions live or live-to-tape programming on a freelance/subcontract basis
- Much, but not all, of the programming is Christian based
- This is a work-from-home position
Job Requirements:
- Must have a speed of 180-220 WPM
- Must have Bible/Christian terminology or be willing to generate. For an extensive list of words, see: http://www.studylight.org
- Must have real-time closed-captioning software
- Must have two computers; one for backup
- Must have three phone lines; one may be a cell phone if it works at home
- Must be on time, follow directions, responsible, and open to feedback

TRANSCRIBER
As Aberdeen continues to grow, we are always looking for the best and brightest transcribers to be a part of our post-production team.
Job Description:
- Transcribes video clips for broadcast programming on a freelance/subcontract basis
- This is a work-from-home position
Job Requirements:
- Must have excellent knowledge of English grammar, especially English punctuation
- Must have excellent research skills to be able to research spellings of uncommon words, places, events, et cetera
- Must be on time and return projects according to strict deadlines
- Must be open to feedback and make immediate corrections
- Must have a foot pedal, transcription software, and professional
(ear-muff type) headphones and/or speakers. Headphones are preferred as subtleties are more easily heard.
- Must have a computer with Windows Media Player and be able to download .wmv video files
- Must be competent in converting word processing files
- Must be willing to transcribe a variety of material, including Christian programming

Pay:

CUSTOMER SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE/ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Job Description:
- Answers all incoming calls
- Support sales and operational processes
- Work with Outlook, Word and Excel
- Follows up with clients on the telephone (no sales)
- Completes administrative tasks, including outgoing FedEx and UPS shipments using their websites
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Interface successfully with all levels of employees, customers and vendors
- Be highly motivated and dependable with strong administrative skills
- Customer-service focused
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Must have a sharp attention to detail
- Ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and be easy going and flexible

Pay:
- $10.00-$15.00/hr, depending on experience
CAPTION EDITOR
Job Description:
- Listening to TV shows, movies, educational programs, and Christian-based programming
- Editing already-written transcripts for punctuation, grammar, and accuracy
- Completing captioning projects using captioning software (no prior experience needed as you will be trained on how to use the software)
- Work with broadcast decks and technical equipment (no prior experience needed as you will be trained on the use of the recording equipment)
- Successfully completing all tasks according to daily deadlines
- Using information technology: Microsoft Office, Internet, and captioning software program
Job Requirements:
- Thorough knowledge of English grammar
- Proofreading skills
- Competency in Microsoft Office
- Internet research skills
- Detail oriented and multitasking ability
- Excellent organizational skills
- Technical aptitude
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Positive attitude, personable, self-motivated, and hardworking
- Touch Type: 40 WPM
- Minimum level of education: High school diploma or GED. College degree or college coursework in Microsoft Office and/or writing classes desired, but not required.

Pay:
- Starting at $14.00-$18.00/hr DOE. Pay increase opportunities based upon performance.
- Candidates possessing one or more of the following skills will receive an increase in starting pay:
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) Note: To qualify, you must pass a Spanish Language Proficiency Test.
- Transcribing ability (70 WPM +) Note: To qualify, you must first pass a transcription test.
- Translation skills (English to Spanish / Spanish to English) Note: To qualify, a translation sample will be required.

Hours:
- FT and PT available.
- Early AM and late PM shifts available as well as 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. shifts.
